The Best Black Friday Deals if You Work From Home

Working from home might be here to stay for many of us, so it's important to make sure you've set up a space that allows you to focus without distractions. That includes using noise-canceling headphones to drown out the kids, using a monitor or laptop stand so you don't crane your neck, and so much more. We've tested a lot of home office gear, and quite a lot of it is on sale for Black Friday. These are our favorites.

Desk and Chair Deals

Fully

This is one of the lowest prices we've seen on Fully's standing desk. It's a favorite among several WIRED staffers. You can quickly adjust the height by pressing a button, and the motor will do the rest. You get four height presets, a bamboo top that looks and feels great, and a variety of customization options so you can personalize it to your liking (just know that many of these tweaks will add to the price). Fully's Jarvis EcoTop Standing Desk is also on sale, and is slightly cheaper at $441 ($78 off). Instead of bamboo, the top uses a locally sourced fiber from Oregon that's 92 percent pre-consumer, recycled, or recovered.

Amazon (Click the Coupon), FlexiSpot

This model is a little different from the FlexiSpot I tested and really like. The chipboard top isn't as customizable and it lacks height presets (there's just an up and down button to adjust it), but considering it's just $200, those sacrifices are well worth it. Seriously, if a standing desk always seemed out of reach because of the price, this is the one to get. FlexiSpot also has discounted another similar model to $230 ($70 off) that offers very little customization and no presets, except it claims it takes just 5 minutes to put the whole thing together.

Staples, Amazon ($170)

This is WIRED reviews editor Jeffrey Van Camp's chair—the one he chose after sitting on dozens of chairs at various big-box stores in the Before Times. The mesh allows for good airflow, and the headrest and lumbar support give your back and neck a break. If your budget is tighter, Jeffrey also recommends the Staples Ardfield, which has been discounted to $60 ($70 off). It's not a chair that'll last forever, but it's a good, affordable pick with mild lumbar support. Both of these prices are even lower than what we saw on Amazon Prime Day.

Monitor Deals

Amazon, Adorama, Best Buy

Trust me, you need an ultrawide. It gives you a lot more room for multitasking. I can have a spreadsheet on one side of the screen and a Chrome tab on the right to reference something else. Or two Chrome tabs side by side. This one from LG has a 2,560 x 1,080 pixel resolution, is VESA mountable if you want to put it on a monitor mount, and uses an IPS panel for nice colors and good viewing angles.

Best Buy

If an ultrawide is too much, this is a fairly large monitor with a modern look. It's an IPS panel, so you get a wider gamut of colors over VA or TN screens. It has a 1,920 x 1,080 pixel resolution, a quick 5 millisecond response time, as well as one VGA and two HDMI ports. It has positive reviews around the web, but one downside is it cannot be mounted. That may not be an issue if you're OK with the stand, which doesn't seem to take up much desk space.

Best Buy

This 1080p monitor with thin bezels has a strange stand that aims to offer a clutter-free look on your desk. You can attach the cables that come out of it onto an integrated cable management clip on the stem on the back to keep things looking clean. The screen itself is tiltable but not height adjustable. There's an HDMI and VGA port, and it supports the VESA mounting standard. It's not the monitor to get if you need the best color accuracy, but hey, it's $100!

Monoprice

Get rid of those pesky monitor stands! I did and it freed up a lot of room on my desk. I have the single monitor version of this VESA mount from Monoprice, and it allows me to easily adjust my monitor to whatever height or angle I want. This is the dual-monitor version if you have two big screens (up to 34 inches). If you have smaller monitors (27 inches or under), there's a dual-monitor mount you can get. And if you only have one monitor, Monoprice's single-arm mount will serve you well, but it's not discounted.

Amazon, Best Buy

Don't be put off by the crazy colors! This is a great mechanical keyboard, and you don't have to be a gamer to use it (you also don't need to turn on the RGB lighting if you don't want it). Typing on it is loud but it's wonderfully tactile, and you get a palm rest for added comfort.

A good, full-size mechanical keyboard for less than $50? WIRED Gear reviewer Jess Grey liked typing on this budget keyboard from Aukey and said each keystroke offers a "characteristically satisfying click." It has configurable RGB lighting in case you want a specific theme with your desktop, and the blue switches it comes with offer a loud clack.

Amazon, Best Buy

This is our favorite wireless mouse. First of all, it's ambidextrous, making it great if this is for a workstation multiple people use. It's speedy, with low response times, and it comes with a charging dock so you don't need to fuss about with cables or batteries. This is the same discount price we saw on Amazon Prime Day.

Amazon, Target

You get all the usual bells and whistles with this mouse, including four buttons and a clickable scroll wheel. Roccat's Titan switches offer a surprisingly tactile click, according to WIRED reviewer Jess Grey, but I like its sci-fi aesthetic.

Amazon, Target, Best Buy

The Sony WH-1000XM4 (9/10, WIRED Recommends) are our favorite wireless headphones. You get excellent noise-canceling tech, a brilliant soundstage, and 30 hours of battery life for a winning combo. Sony has also improved the microphones on this model to improve call quality, so you won't have to worry about how you sound on Zoom calls. These have dipped to this price before during Prime Day but considering they only launched in August, it's still an excellent price.

The Sony headphones above are our favorite wireless headphones and the ColorBuds (8/10, WIRED Recommends) are our favorite wireless earbuds. They have a comfortable, near-universal fit, great sound, and 6 hours of AirPods Pro-beating battery life (plus an extra 16 hours with the case). The almost perfect seal they create helps block out ambient noise, too. Remember, you're getting all this for less than $100. It's a great value.

Beats headphones actually sound great now, and the Solo Pro (9/10, WIRED Recommends) are some of our favorites. The noise-canceling tech blocks out sounds around you, and you can talk to Siri or Google Assistant through them. They're comfortable, fold up for easy stowing, and the controls are simple. The battery life runs for 40 hours without noise-canceling (22 with it on). Our main gripe? They charge via Lightning, which may not be a problem for you if you use an iPhone or iPad.

Microsoft Store ($750), Amazon, Best Buy

Specs: Intel Core i5, 8 GB RAM, 128 GB SSD

This is a laptop-tablet hybrid, but it's one of our favorites. With these specs, the Surface Pro 7 (8/10, WIRED Recommends) is powerful enough for most tasks, and the keyboard and sleeve are included in this deal. Grab the Surface Pen if you want to doodle or take notes in tablet mode.

Dell Store

Specs: Intel Core i7, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD

Dell's latest XPS 13 is one of our favorite laptops (9/10, WIRED Recommends). This model lacks the 4K screen that WIRED writer Scott Gilbertson tested, but it has considerably better battery life. The 11th-generation Intel i7 chip is plenty fast for most things, even editing 4K video, and the 16:10 display adds some welcome extra headroom when browsing the web and editing documents.

Specs: Intel Core m3, 4+ GB RAM, 64 GB SSD

If you almost exclusively use Google's Chrome browser for all your needs, then consider a Chromebook. They're a great deal more affordable, and this is the top pick in our Best Chromebooks guide. WIRED reviewer Scott Gilbertson says it strikes the best balance between price, power, and features. The 14-inch 1080p screen is bright, the battery lasts all day, and it's speedy enough for lightweight tasks.

Parched for ports on your machine? Plug this USB-C hub in and you'll get seven new things you can plug in, from an HDMI monitor and SD card to ethernet and a keyboard and mouse. When you're done using your peripherals, just unplug the hub from your laptop whenever it's time to move to the couch.

The deal is available only on the white version. This small power adapter packs a lot of power. It's enough to recharge your MacBook, or you can use it to juice up two smartphones quickly. The 100-W version is also on sale for $37 ($13 off) if you need to recharge your laptop and smartphone at the same time (use 2LP4P4WH and clip the coupon).

Nomad

Tired of using a tattered cable? This Kevlar braided cable from Nomad can help. It doesn't flimsy at all, and there's an integrated cable tie to keep things organized. It comes in 1.5 or 3-meter sizes, and you can also get the same cable as USB-C to Lightning if you want to charge your iPhone or iPad.

The pandemic is not a new thing anymore, but webcams are still tough to find in stock (or for reasonable prices). I've been using this one for most of the year and it does the job. Colors are muted and the quality isn't anything to write home about, but it stays put on top of my monitor, and it's easy to adjust the angle. There's no privacy shutter, but I just point it in a different direction when I'm done using it.

Nomad

This is still an expensive wireless charger, but it's one of the best because you don't have to worry about placing your phone just right. Just plop it and forget it. It uses new wireless charging technology that lets you place your phone or earbuds case anywhere on the mat to charge. You can read more about it here.

Oakywood

This isn't just a fancy stand for your headphones. It's also a wireless charger! It's been one of my favorite desk accessories of late. It looks attractive—I really like the design of the solid wood base, which is also where you'll plop your phone down to charge (if it supports wireless charging). The whole thing is fairly sturdy, so even if your hand bumps into it your headphones won't fall off.
