Tests drop, but cases peak in Gujarat

From highest-ever 91.4k Covid tests on Wednesday, daily testing dropped to 70.8k on Thursday; 361cases in A’bad
Covid-19 cases in Gujarat hit a fresh peak for the second consecutive day, with 1,560 persons testing positive in 24 hours. Ironically, a total of 70,820 tests were conducted across the State during this period, a drop of over 20,000 from over 91,000 tests on Wednesday, which was the highest single-day testing for Covid-19 in the State till now.
Testing figures have been quite erratic this month. On November 1, a total of 51,084 tests were conducted, dropping to 39,383 on November 16, before rising again over the next few days and touching the peak of 91,459 on Wednesday. Prior to this, the highest single-day testing was on September 16 when over 85,000 tests had been conducted in the State. However, after that the daily testing figures had consistently reduced.
Of the 1,560 cases on Thursday, the maximum, 361, were reported in Ahmedabad, followed by 289 in Surat, 180 in Vadodara, 138 in Rajkot, 70 in Gandhinagar, 64 in Patan, 45 in Jamnagar and 41 in Banaskantha district.
Among others, Mehsana reported 40 cases, Panchmahals 29, Anand and Kheda 28 each, Mahisagar 26,Junagadh 24, Dahod 23, Bharuch and Kutch 21 each, Amreli, Morbi and Sabarkantha 20 each.
Surendranagar reported 17 cases, Narmada 10, Bhavnagar 8, Gir Somnath 7, Arvalli and Navsari 6 each,Chhota Udepur , Devbhumi Dwarka and Tapi 5 each and Botad, Porbandar and Valsad 1 each.
Gujarat has so far reported 2,03,509 cases of Covid-19. With 16 more patients succumbing to the infection, the death toll rose to 3,922.
Of the 16 deaths, 12 were in Ahmedabad, 3 in Surat and 1 in Vadodara.
As many as 1,85,058 patients have recovered from the infection so far.

48.7k cases in A'bad, nearly 3k active cases i n city
With the addition of 361 cases, the case tally of Ahmedabad district reached 48,710, while the death toll stood at 2,015. Of the new cases 337 were in the city and the remaining 24 inrural parts . According to data released by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, there were 2,977 active cases in the city till Thursday morning.

32 new micro-containment areas in city
The AMC declared 32 new micro-containment areas in the city on Thursday in areas where more number of cases had surfaced. Of these, 17 were in the western parts of Ahmedabad. Nine of them were in thewest zone , six in the north-west zone an d two in the south-west zone.
