Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh clears air on lunch with Navjot Singh Sidhu

CHANDIGARH: Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh, commenting on his one-hour luncheon meeting with former cabinet minister Navjot Singh Sidhu on Wednesday, described it as a simple meeting without any serious discussion.
Quashing media speculation about serious discussion between the two and about the possibility of Sidhu’s return to the Punjab cabinet, the chief minister said on Thursday that contrary to what was being suggested “we did not make any plans for Punjab or India or the world.”
“We just had some simple talks, during which Sidhu shared a lot of his cricketing experiences,” the chief minister said and added that unfortunately the media was making a mountain out of a molehill. He hoped that he and Sidhu would continue to have cordial meetings like they had on Wednesday where they spoke a lot about cricket, apart from a host of other things. “I was satisfied and happy with the meeting, and so was Sidhu,” said the chief minister.
The press statement issued by the chief minister’s office read, “Both were in good mood during the one-hour luncheon meeting, to which he had invited Sidhu after the latter expressed interest in meeting him.”
Taking a dig at the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) remark about the CM hosting a banquet for Sidhu, Amarinder said while Sidhu had boiled vegetables, he himself had a missi roti with dahi during the lunch. “Does that look like a banquet to the Akalis?” Amarinder questioned.
