Patna, Nov 27 (UNI) The post-lunch sitting of Bihar Assembly was adjourned for 20 minutes following a ruckus over remark of leader of the opposition Tejaswi Prasad Yadav against Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during debate on thanks motion to Governor for his address to the House.
During the debate in Assembly in its pre-lunch sitting , Mr Yadav had alleged that Mr Kumar himself was facing a murder case that was lodged against him during 1991 Lok Sabha elections.
In post lunch sitting, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary clarified that the case referred Mr Yadav stood closed by the order of lower court and when a petition was filed in lower Court again after several years , the Patna High Court had restrained the lower court from entertaining that petition.
Mr Chaudhary said that Patna High Court in its order had made observation that charge of murder against Mr Kumar was baseless and frivolous. With the order of Patna High Court, murder case against Mr Kumar stood quashed, he pointed out.
Parliamentary affairs Minister said that leader of the opposition had placed distorted and misleading facts which should not only be removed from the proceedings of the House but a system should be evolved to prevent recurrence of such incident. After clarification of Mr Chaudhary, Mr Yadav did not
relent and said he stood by his remark as he had not told lies in the House.
Mr Kumar lost his cool when Mr Yadav said he stood by his remark, and said that leader of the opposition was telling blatant lies in the House. It was intolerable and against the business rules of the house, he added.
The Chief Minister said that he had made Mr Yadav the Deputy Chief Minister in his cabinet in the year 2015. In 2017, when charges relating to Hotel tender scam came to light and CBI had started investigation, he had asked Mr Yadav to make clarifications on charges levelled against him in the case lodged by CBI. Mr Yadav did not make any clarification following which he had snapped ties with RJD, he added.
Mr Kumar said that he had been tolerating rubbish talks of Mr Yadav as he was son of his friend Lalu Prasad who was like his brother. When Mr Yadav tried to say something, he again lost his cool and thundered, " he was telling lies". He also demanded from the Speaker to order inquiry and take action against Mr Yadav for telling lies in the House.
When Mr Kumar was making his statement, ruling party members stormed into well of the House and demanded action against Mr Yadav. Opposition members also stormed into the house, forcing Speaker Vijay Sinha to adjourn the preceding for 20 minutes.
