New Delhi: The total number of active coronavirus cases in India crossed the 4.5 lakh mark for the first time after nine days on Thursday, when 43,082 new COVID-19 infections were recorded, government data shows. With this, India's total Covid cases have risen to 93,09,787. Up to 492 people also died of the highly infectious disease in the last 24 hours taking the overall Covid-related death count to 1,35,715. Total discharged cases rose to 87,18,517 with 39,379 new discharges in this period.
The rise in active COVID-19 cases comes amid apprehensions of a second wave nationally as infection rate has spiked in states with relatively fewer cases till now, including Rajasthan, Gujarat, Haryana, Chhattisgarh and Himachal Pradesh. Many states have adopted localised restrictions, including night curfews, and doubled fines for not wearing masks and crowding.

Active COVID-19 caseload of India stands at 4,55,555 today, i.e 4.89% of India's total positive cases. About 70% (69.59%) of total active cases contributed by 8 states/UT i.e. Maharashtra, Kerala, Delhi, Rajasthan, UP, Karnataka, West Bengal & Chhattisgarh: Ministry of Health.
Maharashtra recorded the maximum positive change with addition of 1,526 cases whereas Chhattisgarh recorded maximum negative change with a decrease of 719 active cases. Maharashtra leads COVID-19 tally with 6,406 new cases and Delhi has reported 5,475 new cases: Ministry of Health.

Coronavirus: Mizoram's COVID-19 Tally Rises To 3,788
Twenty-three more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Mizoram on Friday, pushing the state's coronavirus tally to 3,788, an official said. Of the 23 new cases, nine were reported in Lawngtlai district, 4 each from Aizawl and Champhai, Lunglei (3), Kolasib (2) and Serchhip (1), the official said. Two cases were confirmed at Zoram Medical College's RT-PCR lab, seven at TrueNat labs in three district hospitals and 14 cases were detected through Rapid Antigen Test in four districts.

AstraZeneca Plc is likely to conduct an additional global trial to assess the efficacy of its Covid-19 vaccine, according to the company's chief executive officer, after current studies raised questions over its level of protection. The new trial would be run instead of adding an arm to an ongoing US trial and would evaluate a lower dosage that performed better than a full amount in Astra's studies. India Had Estimated 74 Million Covid Cases by August: Report
Nearly seven per cent of India's population aged ten and above was exposed to SARS-CoV-2, amounting to an estimated 74.3 million infections by August, with the seroprevalence being highest in urban slum areas followed by urban non-slum and rural areas, the findings of ICMR's second national serosurvey stated.

Delhi Night Curfew To Be Decided Urgently, Government Tells Court
A decision on night curfew in Delhi has to be taken immediately and implemented without delay, the High Court told the Arvind Kejriwal government today amid a huge coronavirus surge which the city has not been able to shake off in a month. A status report has to be submitted by December 3, the court added after listening to the government, which said a decision on the matter is under "active consideration".

Coronavirus news: Delhi High Court says GNCTD to take call on imposing night curfew
Delhi High Court on Thursday said that it is now for the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD) to take a call as to whether night curfew is required to be imposed in the city or some of its parts or other measures need to be adopted to contain COVID-19.
Delhi High Court asked GNCTD to take a decision on this aspect and implement the same without losing further time, ANI reported.
