Noney, November 26 2020: A man was shot dead during a clash over chieftainship (Khullakpa) at Thingou village, Noney district yesterday.

The deceased has been identified as Gaithuingam Kamei, 40, of Thingou village, under Nungba PS, Noney district.

He was shot dead yesterday at around 8 am allegedly by one, Thiujinlung Kamei, 40, of Thingou village claimed a complaint filed by Machunthui Kamei with the Nungba police station.

Reliable sources said, Gaidon Kamei, former UNC president met Chief Minister N Biren Singh yesterday and appealed him for installation of an army/police outpost at Thingou village following the killing.

N Biren Singh has also given assurance to expedite the request, said the sources.
