Mediapro has started legal proceedings at the Paris commercial court against pay-TV operator Canal Plus, reports L'Equipe quoting an unnamed source with knowledge of the matter. The Spain-based media group is accusing its rival of abuse of dominant position, after its French operations failed to reach a distribution agreement to bring the Telefoot channel to Canal Plus' pay-TV platform.
The court case opens a new legal front in the strained relations between the two companies. In September, Canal Plus has decided to bring its own action against Mediapro, challenging what it described as "unrealistic" and "discriminatory" conditions put forwards by the Telefoot owner in negotiations over the distribution of the channel.
