The case concerns a couple who installed a video surveillance system on their premises, with five cameras. The couple's neighbors filed a complaint with the GBA because some cameras were filming part of the public road and their private property. The GBA Disputes Chamber concluded that the legitimate interest of the defendants in protecting their own property did not here justify filming those extra areas. And although the couple had hired a professional firm to install this surveillance system, the GBA pointed out that the one giving the order to the installation and use of surveillance cameras is responsible for their correct placement.
