Bolivia ends Q2 with 10.4 mln internet accesses, over 9 in 10 mobile

Thursday 26 November 2020 | 12:28 CET | News
Bolivia ended the second quarter of 2020 with a total of 10.4 million internet accesses, down a few thousand year on year, with 92 percent corresponding to mobile accesses, according to the latest update from the country's telecommunications regulator ATT. There were 814,315 fixed line accesses at the end of June, including 646,355 fibre accesses. Bolivia’s fibre-optic trunk network has been extended to 26,587 kilometres and state-owned operator Entel recently connected the landlocked country to the Pacific via a 2,000-kilometre cable running from the port of Ilo in Peru to Desaguadero on the Peru-Bolivia border.

The watchdog also revealed that nearly half (49%) of the country’s 14,918 base stations are now compatible with 4G, up 112 this year alone. There are also 4,915 2G base stations and 2,690 with 3G technology.
