Maharashtra engineering, MBA admissions likely from next week; ITI to start now

MUMBAI: While most admissions to professional courses under the state's CET cell, including engineering and MBA, are likely to start next week, those for ITI, which were on hold after the first round, will commence with immediate effect.
A circular on the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training website reiterated the state's general administration department resolution on starting the ITI admission process without any reservation for the socially and educationally backward classes (SEBC). Since these students have already applied under the quota, the directorate has allowed them to make changes in the application form by 5pm on November 30 to seek admission under the open category. The application process had started on August 1 and the first round of admissions had concluded before September 9 and therefore will remain unaffected by the Supreme Court order. An official said around 27,000 students have already secured admissions in the first round, of whom 2,054 are from the SEBC quota.
A state CET cell official said information brochures for admissions to various courses are yet to be approved by the higher and technical education department.
