The police arrested a man for selling duplicate LCDs to customers at Madanpura village on Tuesday night. The police also recovered 70 LCDs and a bag of stickers from his possession.

The suspect has been identified as Gagandeep, a resident of Malout, who runs a shop, “Doomra Digital Home”, at Madanpura village.

Manphul Singh, Station House Officer of the Phase 1 police station, said: “We got a tip-off that the suspect was duping customers by selling them counterfeit LCDs. He used to purchase assembled LCDs from Delhi at a cheaper price and sold them here at higher price by pasting the logos of big brands on the items. The illegal practice was going on for the past few months.”

A case has been registered against the suspect under Sections 63 and 65 of the Copyright Act at the Phase 1 police station. The suspect was later released on bail.
