There are 4,52,344 active cases in the country as of date, which comprises 4.88 percent of the total caseload, the data stated. Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka have reported the highest number of cases. However, infections are rising rapidly in states like Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. India's recovery rate continues to rise and now stands at 93.66 percent. Globally, more than 6.02 crore people have been infected by the coronavirus and 14.18 lakh have died so far. A jumbo Pakistan squad, led by Babar Azam, arrived in New Zealand on Tuesday and is serving a mandatory 14-day quarantine period as per COVID-19 protocol.
"Two of these six results have been deemed 'historical'; four have been confirmed as new," NZC said in a statement without revealing the names of the players who have tested positive for the dreaded virus. All six members of the squad will be moved to the quarantine arm of a managed isolation facility. Pakistan are here for three T20 Internationals and two Tests. As many as 799 new COVID-19 cases have been reported in Maharashtra's Thane district, taking the tally to 2,25,613, an official said today. The death toll in the district has gone up to 5,634, with 15 more people succumbing to the disease, he said. Kalyan town in the district has so far reported the maximum number of COVID-19 cases at 53,175. The COVID-19 recovery rate in the district is 94.40 percent, the mortality rate stands at 2.50 percent, while the active cases comprise 3.10 percent of the total infections reported so far, he added.
