NSA to visit Colombo on Friday for meeting on maritime security

New Delhi, Nov 26 (UNI) National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval will visit Sri Lanka on Friday to attend the 4th NSA-level Meeting on Trilateral Maritime

Security Cooperation for discussion on cooperation in maritime security in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).

During the two-day visit at the invitation of Sri Lankan Defence Secretary Maj Gen (Retd). Kamal Gunaratne, Mr Doval is also expected to have other high level

bilateral engagements on the sidelines of the Trilateral Meeting, an External Affairs Ministry spokesman said on Thursday.

Besides Mr Doval and Maj Gen Gunaratne, Maldives Defence Minister Mariya Didi will also participate in the meeting.

Earlier Meetings were held in 2011 in Maldives, in 2013 in Sri Lanka and in 2014 in India.

'The NSA-level Trilateral Meeting has served as an effective platform for cooperation among Indian Ocean countries,' the spokesman said.

Mauritius and Seychelles attended the 3rd meeting as guest countries.
