Thousands participate in funeral procession of slain MNS leader

Thane, Nov 25 (UNI) Several thousands of mourners today participated in the funeral procession of the slain MNS leader Jameel Shaikh in Thane city’s Rabodi area in broad daylight on Monday.
The body was first taken to the local Rabodi mosque where the mourners offered Janaza Namaz and then the body was taken for burial to the Kabrastan.
The senior MNS leader Abhijit Phanse lead the procession all through the route. Talking to the media Phanse condemned the killing and said that it was a political murder.
He wanted the police to go to the root of the killing and trace out the brain behind the conspiracy and not not just pick up the shooters.
He also reminded that the MNS leaders were subject to murderous attacks in the recent past in which one more leader had lost his life.
The culture of Thane was losing day by day its importance due to such criminal incidences he said.
However, both the leaders said that they had confidence in the police probe and hoped they will reach the main accused in the cold blooded murder.
The other local leader who was close to the victim, Javed Shaikh said that Jameel had been killed over the issue of cluster development he said.
The family members of the victim have clearly named the main accused in the crime in the FIR and the police should reach them he said.
An old lady to whom Jameel has been helpful all through wondered if the accused in this case would be punished when the Parmar case is hanging still hanging fire she said.
Jameel who was riding his two-wheeler alone was followed by two bike ridden people and the pillion rider fired two shots at him in the busy Rabodi road instantly killing him. The CCTV grab of the killing where a tempo proceeding slowly blocking the route of Jameel has gone viral and even today being circulated in social media.
Meanwhile, a senior police officer from Thane police commissionerate said that the police have spread a dragnet to trace the killers.
In a related development Rabodi observed three days of spontaneous bandh following the murder of Jameel.

Triple suicide: Thane Police arrest 1, register case of abetment of suicide, Black Magic Act

Thane, Nov 25 (UNI) Almost a week after three persons from Chande village of Sahapur taluka near Khardi committed suicide by hanging themselves to the three on the night of Amavasya on November 14, the district rural police arrested one person on the charges of abetting their suicide and practicing black magic the police said today.
