This is the best time of year to buy a new smartphone. Every major manufacturer has released its 2020 devices, and many of them are discounted for the holidays. You don't need to pay $1,000 for a great phone, either. And alongside the best Black Friday phone deals, we've also rounded up the best tablets, smartwatches, and accessories on sale this week—just in case you want even more screens and gadgets in your life.

Note: We strike through items that sell out or are no longer at their deal price as of publishing. Discounts sometimes return, so check for yourself. We will update this guide throughout the weekend.

Special offer for Gear readers: Get a 1-Year subscription to WIRED for $5 ($25 off). This includes unlimited access to WIRED.com and our print magazine (if you'd like). Subscriptions help fund the work we do every day.

Phone Deals

Check out our Best Android Phones, Best Cheap Phones, and Best iPhones guides for more recommendations. And please note that our favorite Android phone is the Google Pixel 4A ($350). It's not discounted further for Black Friday but is still the best deal going.

★ Best Camera—Google Pixel 5 for $650 ($50 off)

Amazon, Best Buy, Google Store

The Pixel 5 (8/10, WIRED Recommends) is our top choice among Android phones if camera quality is your main criterion. The main 12-megapixel camera reliably shoots detailed photos with natural colors, and a mode called Night Sight brightens up scenes in low light. There's an ultrawide camera this year that's just as good, too. The rest of the phone is problem-free, with great performance, a 90-Hz OLED screen, 5G, day-long battery life, and a compact aluminum frame that's water-resistant and supports wireless charging. You can score $200 extra off this phone if you activate it on Verizon or Google Fi, though the savings come in the form of monthly bill credits.

Galaxy S20 Fan Edition

★ Runner Up—Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition for $550 ($150 off)

Amazon, Best Buy, $600 from Samsung

Samsung's latest flagship is the runner up in our Best Android Phones guide. Why? You get the best of the Galaxy S20 from earlier this year for several hundred dollars less. It runs super fast thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, the high-end chip in all high-end Android phones this year, and the battery comfortably lasts all day. The 120-Hz OLED screen is sharp and colorful, and the phone has a reliable triple-camera system for great photos. The back is made of plastic, and it has water resistance and wireless charging.

If you do want to pay up for the S20 with its slightly better cameras, screen, and glass body, it's also on sale for $800 ($200 off).

Galaxy Note 20 Ultra

Photograph: Samsung
Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra for $1,050 ($250 off)

Amazon, Best Buy, $1,100 from Samsung

Want a stylus with your phone? Samsung makes the best one (nearly the only one). The massive Note 20 Ultra (8/10, WIRED Recommends) has a sprawling 6.9-inch screen, and the S Pen stylus is tucked away for you to pull out for scribbling or marking up documents. It's one of the most powerful Android phones around with the Snapdragon 865+ processor, and it delivers great battery life, 5G, excellent cameras, and all the bells and whistles you'd want. If you buy it directly from Samsung, you can get a chunk extra off the phone if you trade-in an eligible device.

Galaxy A71 5G

Samsung Galaxy A71 5G for $500 ($100 off)

Amazon, Best Buy, Samsung

There are better phones, even at this discounted price (like the Google Pixel 4A 5G), but if you want to stick with Samsung, the A71 5G is solid. It runs well, delivers more than a day of battery life, and has perks like expandable storage and a headphone jack. However, it doesn't have the brightest screen, the cameras aren't amazing, and there's no water resistance or wireless charging.

OnePlus 8

Photograph: OnePlus
OnePlus 8 for $599 ($100 off)

OnePlus, B&H

Both the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro (8/10, WIRED Recommends) are excellent phones, but our main issue has been their high prices. At this discount, the OnePlus 8 is a better buy. You get a sharp 90-Hz OLED screen, 5G support, and the same flagship power you'll find on the Samsung above. The triple-camera system is capable, but there's no water resistance or wireless charging. If you want those latter two features, the OnePlus 8 Pro is also on sale for $800 ($100 off).

Motorola Edge

Motorola Edge for $400 ($300 off)

Amazon, Best Buy, Motorola

This phone has good performance, two-day battery life, and a large, edge-to-edge 6.7-inch OLED screen. I didn't like the Edge's waterfall display, where the screen bleeds into the edges, because it's easy to accidentally press the screen while you hold the phone, but it certainly looks cool. Plus, it's a 90-Hz panel, so content looks wonderfully fluid (that's rare at this price). The cameras are good, though they're lackluster in low light—and there's a headphone jack! It's just a shame there's no wireless charging or water resistance but that's easy to ignore for $400.

Moto G Stylus

Photograph: Motorola
Moto G Stylus for $200 ($100 off)

Amazon, Best Buy, B&H

The Moto G Stylus wasn't a good value when it launched, but it's excellent at this lower price. Its performance and screen are satisfactory, the battery lasts two days, and the software is uncluttered. The cameras aren't great in low light, and you probably won't use the included stylus, because Motorola's palm rejection tech is poor. Also, there's no NFC on this phone, so you can't use contactless payment systems like Google Pay.

If you want to spend even less, the Moto G Power for $180 ($70 off) is a similar phone with a lesser camera, but the battery lasts three full days. There's also the Moto G Fast for $150 ($50 off), which offers a lot of phone for very, very little. Another good cheap phone I'm testing right now? The Nokia 5.3, which gets two years of Android upgrades and three years of security updates (well more than what you get with Motorola). It's down to $167 ($33 off).

TCL 10 Pro

Photograph: TCL
TCL 10 Pro for $315 ($135 off)

Amazon (clip the coupon), Best Buy, B&H

The TCL 10 Pro looks and feels like it should cost a lot more. The ultra-modern OLED screen is bright enough to see outdoors, performance is great, plus you get a headphone jack, MicroSD card slot, and NFC for contactless payments. The camera is its weak point; it's OK, just not as good as the $350 Pixel 4A's.

The even cheaper TCL 10L is also discounted to $175 ($75 off), and it's a good phone if you don't plan on taking lots of pictures.

Tablet Deals

Check out our Best iPads, Best Fire Tablets, and Best Tablets guides for more picks.

Amazon Fire HD 10

Photograph: Amazon
★ Best Value—Amazon Fire 10-Inch Tablets ($40-$70 off)

Amazon Fire HD 10 for $80 ($70 off)

Amazon Fire HD 10 Kids Edition for $130 ($70 off)

Whether you want to watch some movies before bed, or want to get your kid their first screen, Amazon's Fire tablets are cheap and good enough. They're best for folks subscribed to Amazon services like Prime Video. The Fire HD 10 is the biggest model available, with an HD screen that's good for watching videos. It operates well and uses USB-C to charge. Just know that you can't access the Google Play Store on it, so not every Android app is available. The Kids Edition comes with a case and a two-year worry-free guarantee; Amazon will replace the tablet for free if your kid breaks it.

★ Best Tablet—iPad (8th-Gen, 2020) for $280 ($50 off)

Best Buy, $299 at Amazon

This deal might only be available for pickup at your local Best Buy. It's the first big dip on the new iPad we've seen since Apple refreshed it in September. It's hardly any different from last year's version—the only new addition is the A12 Bionic chip (the same as the one on the iPhone XS), which makes it a little better at running the latest apps and games with ease. It still remains the most powerful tablet you can find for the price, especially at this discount. This one is compatible with the first-gen Apple Pencil and Apple's Smart Keyboard in case you want to get some work done. We don't recommend traveling to a store to pick it up, so maybe just save $30 instead and snag it from Amazon.

iPad Pro

Photograph: Apple
★ Luxe Pick—iPad Pro (2020) for $729 ($69 off)

Amazon

The 11-inch iPad Pro is the best luxury iPad, and the size is just right—not too small, not too big. It's immensely powerful with the A12Z Bionic chip inside, and cursor support in iPadOS paired with the large screen real-estate make it a machine you can easily bang out some work on. It supports the second-generation Apple Pencil (with its much better magnetic wireless recharging system), and not only is the screen exquisite, but the speakers may be the best you'll find on a tablet.

If you want the biggest iPad possible, the 13-inch iPad Pro is also on sale for $900 ($99 off).

Galaxy Tab S7+

Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ for $743 ($107 off)

Amazon, B&H, $750 at Best Buy

If you want a powerful Android tablet that can handle light work and be a mobile media center, look no further than the Galaxy Tab S7+. The 120-Hz OLED screen is stunning, it has great speakers, and a stylus is included. Snag a keyboard cover if you want to get some work done; just know that the desktop PC experience is nowhere near as refined as a Mac or Windows computer.

You can get a very similar experience with the smaller Tab S7 for $550 ($100 off). The screen is LCD, which is the main difference outside of size; it's not as nice, but it doesn't disappoint.

Galaxy Tab S6 Lite

Photograph: Samsung
Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite for $250 ($100 off)

Best Buy, B&H

The Tab S6 Lite is noticeably slower than many tablets, though it's powerful enough to get by if you mostly use it for browsing social media, reading, or watching movies and TV. A stylus is included in this one as well.

Smartwatch Deals

Apple Watch

Photograph: Apple
Apple Watch Series 6 for $330 ($69 off)

Amazon

The Apple Watch Series 6 (8/10, WIRED Recommends) is the smartwatch to get if you have an iPhone. It's attractive, has a wealth of health features like blood oxygen measuring and an electrocardiogram, plus you can text your friends back without picking up your phone. Sleep tracking is also available, but you'll need to recharge the watch before bed to make sure it lasts the night.

The Apple Watch SE is also discounted to $289 ($20 off). It doesn't have the added health features like blood oxygen measuring.

Photograph: Samsung
Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 for $339 ($60 off)

Amazon, Best Buy, B&H

I'm still reviewing the Galaxy Watch 3. So far, it's my favorite smartwatch if you don't own an iPhone. It goes toe-to-toe with the Apple Watch on many features—it even has an electrocardiogram (only works if you have a Samsung phone) and blood oxygen tracking. It has a fun rotating bezel that makes navigation easy, and the battery lasts two days if you turn off the always-on display. The watch can track sleep too, and it's round, which I like. There are two size options.

Photograph: Fossil
Fossil Gen 5E for $169 ($80 off)

Amazon (Men's), Amazon (Women's), Fossil

I'm just about to start testing Fossil's latest Wear OS by Google smartwatch. It can track your sleep, respond to notifications, track your fitness and heart rate, make contactless payments, and take calls via the built-in mic and speaker. On the inside, it's a little dated. It runs the slightly older Wear 3100 processor, so I don't recommend buying it if you intend on using it for anything more than checking notifications and tracking your heart rate or steps. (There are Wear OS watches with the significantly better 4100 chip coming next year.)

Galaxy Watch Active 2

Photograph: Samsung
Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 for $180 ($70 off)

Best Buy, B&H

This is a great, affordable smartwatch that can deliver you notifications and track your fitness metrics. It shares many of the same sensors as the Watch3 but with a slimmer and lighter design. Some functionality is limited on iOS (the same is true for the Watch3 above), but its battery lasts two to three days on a single charge.

Skagen Falster 3

Photograph: Skagen
Skagen Falster 3 Stylish Smartwatch for $199 ($96 off)

Amazon, Skagen

To me, this is the prettiest smartwatch around. I'm a sucker for simple designs, and the Falster 3 tugs at my strings more than any other. It runs the same chip as the Wear OS watch above, so the same advice stands.

Casio PRT-B50

Photograph: Casio
Casio PRT-B50 Semi-Smart Watch for $130 ($70 off)

Amazon

This smartwatch won't give you notifications from your phone, but it tracks steps and automatically adjusts the time to wherever you are in the world. It also has a compass, and you can get altitude, temperature, and barometric readings. Connect it to an app and you can drop markers, so you can quickly make it back to camp (or your parking spot).
