Severe cyclonic storm 'Nivar' weakens into cyclonic storm

Chennai, Nov 26 (UNI) The Severe Cyclonic Storm ‘Nivar’
over north coastal Tamilnadu, which crossed the coast near
Puducherry early on Thursday morning, has weakened into
a cyclonic storm.
A bulletin issued by the Met office here said it moved
northwestwards with a speed of 13 kmph during the past
six hours, weakened into a cyclonic storm and lay centered
over north coastal Tamilnadu about 85 km northnorthwest
of Puducherry and about 95 Km west-southwest of Chennai.
It would continue to move northwestwards and weaken
further into a Deep Depression during next six hours
and into a depression by subsequent six hours.
Under its influence, thunderstorm with light to
moderate rain will occur at a few places over North
Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area and light
rain at isolated places over South Tamilnadu dujring
the next 24 hrs.
Thunderstorm with light to moderate rain is likely
to occur at a few places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry
and Karaikal area for the next two days.
It said heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places
over Vellore, Ranipet, Tirupattur, Tiruvannamalai and
Dharmapuri districts of Tamil Nadu.
Thunderstorm with lightning is also likely to occur at
isolated places over Tamil Nadu.
The forecast for Chennai city and its neighbourhood
for the next 24 hrs is the sky condition is likely to be
overcast. Thunderstorm with light to moderate rain is
likely to occur.
Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be
around 27 Deg C and 23 Deg C respectively.
For the next 48 hrs, the sky condition is likely to be
generally cloudy. Thunderstorm with light to moderate
rain is likely to occur.
Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be
around 29 Deg C and 24 Deg C respectively.
