Notification issued for Rajya Sabhs by-election in Bihar

Patna, Nov 26 (UNI) The nomination process was set in motion with the issuance of notification for the by-elections for the lone vacant seat of Rajya Sabha from Bihar today.
With this the candidates can file their nomination till December 3 and the scrutiny of the papers would be held the very next day, on December 4.
The last date for withdrawal of nomination is December 5 and if required the polling would be conducted on December 14 .
The results would be declared on the same day.
The election commission has appointed Patna Divisional Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Agrawal as returning officer and Bhudev Rai of the state assembly as an assistant returning officer for the election nomination for which would be filed at the Divisional Office.

By-election to the seat has been necessitated following death of Lok Janshakti Party leader Ram Vilas Paswan on October 8 whose tenure was due to expire in April 2024 .
