Covid-19: KDMC to increase testing centers by over 50%

KALYAN: Kalyan-Dombivli, once hotspot for Covid-19 again saw a spike on Wednesday as the twin city in last 24 hours reported 204 cases.
The Covid-19 cases in the twin city was under control for over a month. Meanwhile looking at the rise in Covid-19 cases the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation has decided to increase testing centres by over 50% in next three days.
Dr Pratibha Panpatil, health Officer of KDMC told TOI, "Presently we have 22 centres where anybody can get free Covid test and by next week we have planned to add 15 more testing centers."
The KDMC commissioner Dr Vijay Suryawanshi said, "Before Diwali we had managed to brought Covid-19 cases below 60 a day which is on the rise but we have developed several jumbo facilities kept readiness if cases goes up to 900 in day."
Dr Suryawanshi have also appealed citizens to follow social distancing norms and be more careful.
KDMC since last few days have also started testing centres at Kalyan railway station and Sate Transport depot at Kalyan where they have tested 3,700 passengers coming from outside city and states out of which they have found 37 positive patients.
Presently the Kalyan-Dombivli has 53,175 patients including 1,050 deaths, 50,697 patients have recovered while 1,428 active patients are undergoing treatment.
