Pune: Pimpri Chinchwad cops seize gutkha worth Rs 16 lakh; one arrested

PUNE: Bhosari MIDC police on Tuesday arrested a 22-year-old man and seized gutkha worth Rs 16 lakh.
The suspect Kartik Dalvi had kept the gutkha at a godown at Borhade Vasti in Moshi. His two accomplices are on the run. Bhosari MIDC police team led senior inspector Shivaji Gaware has made the arrest.
The suspect Dalvi has been charged under section 328 (causing hurt by means of poison with intent to commit an offence) and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Disaster Management Act and the Maharashtra Covid-19 rules. "Previously Dalvi was arrested under similar offence by the Bhosari MIDC police," the officer said adding, "We have launched a search for his two accomplices."
Meanwhile, social security cell of the Pimpri Chinchwad police on Tuesday destroyed an illicit country-made liquor manufacturing unit at Bhosari. The police have destroyed chemicals being used for making liquor and also 420 litres of liquor all college worth Rs 6 lakh. "We have registered an offence against two suspects from Moshi," Vithhal Kubade, senior inspector of the cell said.
Meanwhile, senior inspector of the Bhosari MIDC police Shivaji Gaware has shared a cellphone number and made an appeal to the people to inform the police if they noticed any Illegal activities like bootlegger, flesh trade, selling of Gutka. People can contact on the cellphone number 7378563100.
