Odisha: Application invited for three vice-chancellor posts

Bhubaneswar: The higher education department on Wednesday issued notification for appointment of vice-chancellor of Sambalpur University, Ravenshaw University and Odisha State Open University. Eligible candidates need to submit applications for these posts by December 21.
The applicant should be a distinguished academician of proven academic and administrative excellence with a minimum 10 years of experience as professor in a university system or 10 years in an equivalent position in reputed research and/or academic organisation.
For Sambalpur University and Ravenshaw University, tenure of the VCs will be four years from the date he/she assumes office or till he/she attains 67 years of age, whichever is earlier. For Odisha State Open University, tenure of VC is three years and age limit is 65 years.
Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview (to be held at Bhubaneswar in physical mode) by a three-member search committee. After interview, the committee will recommend three candidates to the chancellor of the universities who will select one of them for appointment as vice-chancellor.
Governor Ganeshi Lal on Monday selected VCs for six universities. Sabita Acharya, a professor of anthropology in Utkal University, got selected as vice-chancellor of Utkal University. He appointed Aparajita Chowdhury as vice-chancellor of Rama Devi Women’s University.
Dinabandhu Sahoo, a botany professor in Delhi University, was selected as the new vice-chancellor of Fakir Mohan University. N Nagaraju, an English professor from Central University of Karnataka, got the assignment of Gangadhar Meher University vice-chancellor.
Kishore Kumar Basa, a retired professor of University of Culture and Tagore national fellow, got selected as vice-chancellor of North Odisha University. Prafulla Kumar Mohanty, a zoology professor in Utkal University became the vice-chancellor of Khallikote University.
