Jamshedpur: Sikhs seek clarity on guidelines for Guru Parv

Guru Nanak Jayanti is on November 30.
JAMSHEDPUR: A 21-member delegation of the Central Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee from the Steel City of Jamshedpur met JMM general secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya in Ranchi in Sunday and submitted a memorandum seeking the state government’s directives on the forthcoming celebrations of Guru Nanak Jayanti on November 30.
The delegation informed that the Sikh community takes out ‘prabat pheris’ for a week before Prakash Utsav and much time is not left to take a decision. The community also sought for directives on taking out Nagar Kirtans in various parts of Jamshedpur.
Sardar Sailender Singh, the chairman of the committee, said, “Bhattacharya gave us a patient hearing and said chief minister Hemant Soren will be apprised about the memorandum and a decision will also be taken soon.”
“Children and senior citizens will not be allowed to take part in the procession,” he said.
