As many as 44,376 new cases of novel coronavirus were reported, with India’s total COVID-19 cases now above 92 lakh, as per health ministry’s November 25 update. India reported 481 new deaths and 37,816 recoveries in the last 24 hours, the latest release show. Active cases up to 4,44,746 with a rise of 6,079 cases in a day. Delhi reported the most (6,224) new cases in the last 24 hours, followed by Maharashtra (5,439), Kerala (5,420), West Bengal (3,545) and Rajasthan reporting an all-time high of 3,314 cases. These top five states account for more than half (54 percent) of all the new cases in India. Daily deaths (481) continue below the 500-mark for the second day. Delhi reported the most 109 deaths (over 100 deaths for the fifth consecutive day), followed by West Bengal (49), Haryana (33), Uttar Pradesh (33) and Maharashtra (30). These five states account for 53 percent of all the new deaths reported across the country. About nine states and union territories like Andaman and Nicobar, Arunachal Pradesh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli/Daman and Diu, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Puducherry and Tripura did not report any deaths today. The total number of COVID-19 cases in India stands at 92,22,216 with 86,42,771 recoveries and 1,34,699 deaths as on November 25, 2020. The recovery rate is reported to be 93.7 percent with a mortality rate at 1.5 percent. More than 11 lakh daily tests were reported on November 24, highest in 13 days, while more than 13.48 crore tests have been carried out till date.

Coronavirus News Live Updates: Goa adds 125 new COVID-19 cases
Goa on November 25 reported 125 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the count of infections to 47,193, a health department official said.
With four more persons succumbing to the infection, the overall toll mounted to 683, he said.
A total of 61 patients were discharged in the day after treatment, taking the tally of recoveries to 45,229, the official said. Goa has 1,281 active cases.

Maharashtra on November 25 reported 6,159 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the count of infections to 17,95,959, the state health department said.
With 65 more people succumbing to the viral infection, the cumulative toll in the state mounted to 46,748, it said.
A total of 4,844 patients were discharged after treatment during the day, taking the tally of recovered people to 16,63,723, a health department official said.

Government think tank Niti Aayog on November 25 released a compendium of practices that states and union territories have adopted for containing and managing the outbreak of coronavirus. The compendium was released by Niti Aayog member V K Paul and Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant. "While there is much to be gained by learning from global practices for tackling the pandemic, it is equally important to take note of practices that are grounded in our realities. "Instead of expecting every state to reinvent the wheel, dissemination of such practices allows them to learn from each other and help find solutions to common problems," Kant said in the foreword.

Uttarakhand's Dehradun district will be locked down on Sundays from this week to contain the spread of COVID-19.
Dehradun District Magistrate Ashish Shrivastava issued an order on Wednesday seeking strict compliance of the lockdown on Sundays for carrying out sanitisation drives in busy market areas.
Only shops selling essentials like medicines, fruits, vegetables, milk, petrol pumps and LPG agencies will be allowed to open.

The Maharashtra government on November 25 exempted on-duty cockpit and cabin crew members of all airlines from the mandatory RT-PCR test across airports in the state.
The exemption, however, will be subjected to following all necessary COVID-related protocols by the respective airlines, Maharashtra Chief Secretary Sanjay Kumar said in an order.

Only 831 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday, taking the gross to 8,64,674. The number of active cases fell below the 13,000 mark to 12,673 after 1,176 patients got cured in 24 hours ending 9 am on Wednesday. Six deaths were reported, the lowest daily count in about five months now.

Amid a surge in COVID-19 cases in the national capital, some district authorities have been setting up micro-containment zones where two or more infections have been reported for better management of the pandemic, officials said on November 25.
Normally, an area is marked containment zone where three or more COVID-19 cases are detected. But it is a dynamic exercise, conducted by district authorities on a need-based manner, they said.

Delhi Lt Governor Anil Baijal on November 25 directed officers to ensure timely hospitalisation of COVID-19 patients under home isolation in case of emergency to reduce the mortality rate in the national capital which has recorded over 100 daily deaths in seven of the last 13 days.
Sources said the lieutenant governor also asked officers to ensure strict monitoring of COVID-19 patients under home isolation, amid instances of some people not following isolation norms.
