Karimnagar: Karimnagar Commissionerate police busted a gutkha circulation gang and arrested two of its members. They also seized Rs 3 lakh worth of banned gutkha packets, a car, two bikes and two mobile phones from them.
Based on reliable information, task force police along with local police conducted vehicle checks in Jammikunta and found a car carrying banned gutkha packets.
Police have taken Bharatha Krishna of Bhimadevarapalli of Warangal Urban district into custody for carrying gutkha packets in the vehicle. Based on the information given by Krishna, police arrested Rai Aadarsha of Katkoor, Akkannapet mandal of Siddipet.
On questioning, Bharatha Krishna informed police that he along with Auguri Krishnamurthy of Singapur, Huzurabad mandal used to sell gutkha packets in and around Jammikunta to amass huge amount.
They used to procure gutkha packets from Rai Aadarsh, who used to get banned tobacco products from Amar Traders, Bidar of Karnataka. Krishnamu and Mohammed Navid ul-huck, owners of Amar Traders were absconding, informed police.
