Cricket West Indies board director Dr Akshai Mansingh and the board’s security manager Paul Slowewill will visit Dhaka and Chittagong next week to assess bio-security plans for Windies' upcoming tour of Bangladesh.
If all goes well, Bangladesh will become the fourth country to host international cricket - after England, Australia and New Zealand - since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the first country from Asia to do so.
It marks a resumption of the rivalry between the two teams, as West Indies returns to Bangladesh after two years. The 2018-19 tour was Windies' first full tour of Bangladesh since December, 2012.
Jason Holder's men will be keen to avenge the 2-0 series defeat it suffered last time. One of the two defeats was an innings defeat, West Indies' first against Bangladesh.
The team was defeated in the ensuing One-Day International series as well, before triumphing in the T20Is.
Bangladesh registered a win the last time the two sides met in the international arena - a World Cup 2019 contest in Taunton, U.K.
During the upcoming tour, West Indies' second since its tour of England in August-September, 2020, the teams scheduled to play three Tests, as many ODIs and two T20Is.
The team is currently on a tour of New Zealand, where it is scheduled to play three T20Is and two Test matches.
