The Union Minister of Food Processing Industries Narendra Singh Tomar has approved the proposals received under the Scheme for Creation of Infrastructure for Agro-Processing Cluster (APC) of Pradhan Mantri KisanSampada Yojana (PMKSY). Tomar took the decision when chaired the IMAC meeting through video conference.
IMAC in the meeting approved seven proposals with a total project cost of Rs234.68cr including grants-in-aid of Rs60.87cr in the States/UTs of Meghalaya, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra.
According to the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, these projects will leverage private investment of Rs173.81cr and are expected to generate employment for 7750 persons.
APC under PMKSY is to incentivize the setting up of agro-processing clusters in the country. This scheme aims at the development of modern infrastructure to encourage entrepreneurs to set up food processing units based on a cluster approach.
