Covid: UP goes for highest ever 1.78 lakh test in single day, 2318 fresh cases detected

Lucknow, Nov 25(UNI)Though the fresh cases of Covid 19 in Uttar Pradesh was 2318 on Wednesday but the state created a sort of record by testing 1.78 lakh tests in a day on Tuesday.

Presently, there are 24,876 active patients in the state in which 11,718 are in home isolation, 2378 in private hospitals and rest in government-run Covid hospitals.

State Additional Chief Secretary, health , Amit Mohan Prasad said here on Wednesday that the state went for highest ever 1,78,549 sample tests in a day on Tuesday, with taking the total tests so far to another milestone of 1,84,70,887, highest by any state in the country.

"Of these tests on Tuesday, 72,808 were of RTPCR,"he said while adding that now the government has decided to go for a ratio of 40:60 in tests, with 40 per cent RTPCR tests and rest 60 per cent of rapid Antigen and TruNet tests. Earlier it was 1/3 or 2/3 ratio tests between RTPCR and rapid Antigen.

Meanwhile in a fresh decision, the UP government has asked 15 Covid prone districts to go for mapping of the fresh cases detected between November 11 to 25. " These districts will plot the map where they have found the cases with going for focus surveillance and RTPCR testing there in random manner to break the virus chain," he said.
These 15 districts are Lucknow, Kanpur, Prayagraj, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Meerut, Bareilly, Moradabad, Aligarh, Jhansi, Agra, Saharanpur and Muzaffarnagar.
Mr Prasad said that the state government also also re-defined the containment areas after fresh cases have started to spike. Now a single case would have a containment area of 50 meters radius while i the cluster of cases it will be a 100 meter radius.
Meanwhile, UP government has till date had gone for surveillance in 1,63,235 places by over 4.64 lakh health teams covering 2.93 crore houses and examining 14.36 crore people.
