Thoubal Police seizes large quantities of illegal tobacco products

Thoubal, November 24 2020: A combined team of Thoubal police commando and a team of Nongpok Sakmai Police Station seized large quantities of banned foreign tobacco products on Monday night.

Two persons and two vehicles were also detained by the police.

The two persons are identified as Md.Amin Khan (40) s/o(L) Md.Hassan of Yairipok Malom Maning Leikai and Thotreichan Shinglai (28) s/o.(L) Homi Shinglai of Somrei Village.

Police also seized two white colour gypsys bearing regn.nos.MN07- 4406 and MZ01B-2958 used in transporting the consignment.

According to report the combine team was conducting frisking and checking at Mayai Keithel when it intercepted the two vehicles around 9pm of November 23 .

On thorough checking of the vehicles the police discovered 17,300 packets of RUILI RIVER foreign made cigarette made from a special blend of finest Virginia Tobacco and 8460 packets of DJARUM BLACK 20 MYA made in KUDUS, INDONESIA.

The detained two persons along with the seized items will be handed over to The Superintendent of Customs Preventive Force, Pallel by observing formalities for necessary legal action.
