JETRO, Bangladesh's CCCI sign MoU to foster trade ties

The Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) and Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at the World Trade Centre in Chattogram to foster trade relations. It was signed to mark 50 years of economic friendship of Japan and Bangladesh and to plan for the next 10 years of private sector cooperation.

CCCI president Mahbubul Alam and JETRO country representative and Japan-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JBCCI) president Yuji Ando signed the MoU.

JETRO and JBCCI will work on research and development for 10 years, according to Bangla media reports.

Japanese ambassador to Bangladesh Ito Naoki said the Matarbari deep sea port is a joint mega-ship project. Under the Big B Initiaitve, Japan is directly implementing many ongoing mega projects in the country, he said, proposing a road show of Bangladeshi products and businesses in Japan.
