Fine for not wearing mask hiked to Rs 1,000 in rural

NAGPUR: Collector Ravindra Thakare has increased the fine for not wearing mask and not maintaining Covid distancing from Rs500 to Rs1,000 for rural areas of the district. It is not clear whether the revised fine will be implemented in the city or not.
Thakare, in a press release, said fines totalling Rs4,33,500 were recovered from 806 persons so far. Thakare also said offences were registered against 17 persons.
The fine in the city limits was Rs500 as on Tuesday. As per the Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s press release, the nuisance detection squad recovered fine of Rs89.2 lakh from 21,116 persons as on Tuesday.
Earlier, the fine was Rs200 and increased to Rs500, following directives of state home minister Anil Deshmukh in mid-September. tnn
