First regulatory body to promote environment-friendly construction

New Delhi, Nov 24 (UNI) In a first of it's kind, a regulatory body called the 'Forum Of Critical Utility Services' (FOCUS) has been launched to facilitate and promote the construction of environment-friendly structures and buildings.
According to an official statement here, the forum was launched virtually by Niranjan Hiranandani, Co-founder and MD of the Hiranandani Group of companies.
''Thrust should be given for a total environment-friendly structure, with minimum use of various utilities, along with critically controlling the price factor. This becomes all the more relevant in the wake of the current Novel Coronavirus pandemic situation,'' Dr Hiranandani said.
He also drew attention to the values of quality, reliability, resilience, sustainability and timely completion of
projects that FOCUS should help achieve.
He said for the first time in the country, the entire segments of the Construction sector have joined hands to give unified and environment-friendly houses and buildings to the buyers, keeping in mind that the price should not go up, while thrusting on total cohesion among various aspects involved in the construction sector.
It will turn out as a boon to the Construction & Building Industry, noted Dr Hirandani, who is also the president of the National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO).
He emphasised on the importance of post-occupancy maintenance of services and good Asset & Facility Management processes, while stating that FOCUS is the only forum or platform in India and possibly the world, which will address the holistic needs of all Critical Utility Services together.
FOCUS witnesses coming together of all the vital branches of building construction industry, in order to design, create, execute, deliver and maintain its critical utilities in an environment-friendly manner, said V Suresh, President of the body, former Chairman & Managing Director of HUDCO and President of Indian Green Building Council (IGBC).
