NDA fields Vijay Sinha for the post of Bihar assembly speaker

Patna, Nov 24 (UNI) The National Democratic Alliance ( NDA ) today fielded senior Bhartiya Janata Party leader Vijay Sinha in the election for the post of Bihar assembly speaker.

Mr Sinha filed his nomination for the election before the Assembly secretary in presence of the Deputy Chief Minister Tar Kishore Prasad and Renu Devi, former assembly speaker Vijay Kumar Chaudhari, former parliamentary affairs minister Shravan Kumar, former Minister Narendra Narayan Yadav and BJP MLA Sanjay Saraogi.

Mr Sinha was labour minister in the last government and had been elected for the third consecutive term from Lakhisarai.

Earlier senior Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Avadh Bihari Chaudhari also filed his paper for the election to the post of assembly speaker as grand alliance candidate during the day. The election is slated for tomorrow.

Agartala, Nov 24 (UNI) The indefinite general strike of Joint Movement Committee (JMC) comprising Bengalis and Mizos in Kanchanpur of North Tripura has been withdrawn today, following assurance of the state government to halt displaced Bru settlement until the five demands of JMC are resolved.
