MUMBAI: The state GST department on Sunday arrested the director of a company who opened fictitious companies, submitted bogus sale invoices of Rs 2,100 crore and claimed Rs 185 crore Input Tax Credit (ITC). Dilipkumar Ramgopal Tibrewal, arrested from his Malad home, was sent to judicial custody till December 5. His associates are wanted in the case. Tibrewal’s firms deal in fabrics and cotton textiles.
Joint commissioner Sampada Mehta said Tibrewal has registered four firms in his name and his relatives besides 26 others registered in names of other persons. Using registrations of these 30 companies, he issued bogus sale invoices of over Rs 2,100 crore without any actual supply of goods or services.
