Danish operator TDC is planning to make between 200 and 500 workers redundant, according to the Finans.dk news portal, citing sources close to the matter. TDC declined to comment, it added. TDC had shed 150 employees in spring but is now planning another round of cost-cutting, the website said.
Lars Jorgensen at trade union TDC Landsklub, representing technical staff, confirmed to Finans that the operator is reviewing every division. He said the redundancies concern products and duties that are to be discontinued.
Finans said that TDC's latest statements show a drop in income of 2.2 percent in the year to date compared with 2019. This is despite a 10 percent cut in costs at TDC in the first nine months, it said. So far this year, TDC has lost 226,000 customers, of which 118,000 were television customers, said Finans. Remaining TV subscribers must look forward to an annual price increase of up to DKK 480, it added.
