Police are on the lookout for two youngsters who were seen near Singh's house. (Representational)A 70-year-old Afghan refugee, who settled in India around 28 years ago, was shot dead by two armed assailants in West Delhi’s Vikaspuri area, police said on Tuesday. The incident took place Monday evening. An FIR has been registered but no arrest has been made yet.
DCP (West) Deepak Purohit said the deceased, identified as Attam Singh, was the sewadar of Gurdwara Guru Hargovind Sahib Anandpur situated at Karala’s Dham Colony, and also dealt in sale of properties. “The incident took place around 5.20 pm outside Singh’s house when he was exiting his car. SHO (Vikaspuri) was informed about the firing incident. He rushed to the spot and the victim was taken to hospital where he was declared brought dead. He had bullet injury marks on his head,” the DCP said.
Police are on the lookout for two men who were seen near Singh’s house. “We have come to know that two men on a motorbike and wearing helmets were seen near Singh’s house. As Singh got out of hic car, the pillion rider fired at him. The duo escaped after the incident. Our investigations also point at some some property deals in which the deceased was involved. We are probing the case from all possible angles,” Purohit said.
