LUCKNOW: A pet lover was killed after his dog barked at three men who were passing through a lane in Sitapur district late on Sunday night.
The deceased, identified as Sachin Kumar (25), was a resident of Kasba bazaar in Sidhauli. The police have detained an accused and efforts to arrest others are underway.
SHO, Sidhauli, Ram Prakash told TOI that the victim was strolling along with his dog on Sunday night when suddenly three men identified as Uma, Rohit and Govind intercepted him.
“As the dog started barking at the three men they got agitated and attacked the victim with knife,” said Prakash. Hearing his cries, his two brothers who were at a distance Sonu and Sunil rushed for help but were also assaulted by the trio. Later, locals rushed to help Sachin, but by that time the attackers had fled.
“Sachin along with Sonu and Sunil were taken to local CHC where the former was declared brought dead,” said Prakash.
