LUDHIANA: A man brutally murdered four of his family members at Mayur Vihar under the Punjab Agriculture University police station area in the district headquarters of Ludhiana in Punjab on Tuesday morning.
After killing the family members using an axe and a knife, the accused - identified as Rajiv Sunda, 60 - managed to escape after which the neighbours raised an alarm and informed the police.
Assistant commissioner of police (West) Gurpreet Singh said that Rajiv killed his wife Sunita, 55, son Ashish, 35, daughter-in-law Garima, 30, and grandson, 13, at 6:30am.
The ACP added that "on hearing the noises, neighbours raised an alarm and called the police. The accused escaped in his car which he crashed into another vehicle on Hambran Road, thus the car caught fire". But the accused managed to escape from there also. The police suspect the family dispute as the reason behind the murder. Further investigation is on.
