West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who arrived in Bankura 17 days after Home Minister Amit Shah's visit to Bengal, targeted Shah on Monday. Mamta said that Shah's recent meal at the home of a tribal family is just a show-off. While the food they ate was sourced from a five-star hotel.

Addressing a gathering in Bankura, Mamata targeted Shah for unfairly comparing the statue of a tribal hunter with that of freedom fighter Birsa Munda. He said that if his government comes, a state holiday will be declared on the birth anniversary of Munda. However, the BJP maintains that the statue is of Birsa Munda and has asked the Chief Minister to prove his claim as a pro-tribal leader.

Describing Shah's visit as a public event, Mamta said that the basmati rice and poplar sack she ate at a tribal house was sourced from a five-star hotel. A Brahmin from outside was also called to the house. Not only this, the vegetable shown to the members of the house was not even used in cooking. Mamta said that the public has started to understand the BJP's lies.

Such things are no longer hidden from anyone. Mamta also claimed that the entire house was sanitized and painted. Mamta giving her example said that I went among the people today, sat with them on the cot, and listened to their difficulties. My tour was not pre-planned. Whereas Home Minister Amit Shah's visit was just a showoff.
