NBA 2020-21: How much will NBA players earn with their new contracts?

NBA 2020-21: It has been a busy NBA offseason for the NBA teams. The NBA trade window, NBA Draft, NBA Free Agency commenced back-to-back with a gap of just 2 days. The NBA also announced that the 2020-21 season will commence on the 22nd of December and 72 games will be played.

The league also announced a tentative calendar and introduced a new format for the new season to decide which teams will make the NBA playoffs.

The NBA trade moratorium period was lifted 2 days prior to the NBA Draft, on the 16th of November. There will be pre-season games from the 11th of December to the 19th of December prior to the start of the 2020-21 season.

We have seen the likes of Chris Paul move to the Phoenix Suns, Gordon Hayward to Charlotte Hornets, and Montrezl Harris shifting from LA Clippers to the LA Lakers.

2021-22: $13,038,862

2022-23: $14,004,703

2022-23 is guaranteed for $4,888,118, becoming fully guaranteed if Caldwell-Pope is not waived on/before the 28th of June, 2022. No options for the team or player this time around!

Steve Adams in the New Orleans Pelicans:

The contract values for Steven Adams’ extension with the New Orleans Pelicans are:

Adams just finished the third year of a four-season, $100 million contracts. He is owed $27.5 million going in 2020-21.

2022-23: $17,926,829

Adams has a new 7.5% trade bonus on the extension. He previously had a 7.5% trade bonus but is expired upon his trade from the Thunder to the Pelicans.

Goran Dragic in the Miami Heat:

2021-22: $19,440,000 (team option)

The second year of Dragic’s deal is not guaranteed, preserving the Heat’s flexibility for free agency in 2021-22. Last season Dragic averaged 16.2 points, 5.1 assists, and 3.2 rebounds in 59 regular-season games, shooting 44.1% from the field and 36.7% from the 3-point line.

Rodney Hood in the Portland Trail Blazers:

2021-22 is non-guaranteed. It becomes fully guaranteed if Hood is not waived on or before the 23rd of June, 2021. Portland protects themselves while giving Hood a nice bump for 2020-21.
