Ethiopia offers 45% stake in partial sale of Ethio Telecom

Tuesday 24 November 2020 | 13:16 CET | News
Ethiopia's government is selling a 45 percent stake in its Ethio Telecom monopoly, Reuters reported citing an adviser to the state minister of finance. The government is pressing ahead with the sale and liberalisation of the sector despite an armed conflict in the north of the country.

Brook Taye, senior adviser at the ministry of finance, told Reuters that the stake will be 40 percent for all interested bidders and 5 percent for Ethiopians. Taye added that 55 percent will remain with the government of Ethiopia.
