The government of the Brazilian state of Piaui will distribute more than 140,000 mobile Sim cards to students in the public education network. The initiative aims to ensure that pupils and students enrolled in the state education system have internet during the pandemic to access online and remote classes. The state acquired Sim cards with 4G technology from Claro and contracted a 20 GB monthly data package.
At the same time, a solution provided by Embratel will limit access to inappropriate websites and applications, block/unblock sharing of hotspots and link the Sim card with a certain device. Teachers will also be able to communicate with students by sending messages and files via push messages.
