IIFL robbery: Four apprehended, 2 kg gold recovered

Bhubaneswar, Nov 24 (UNI) The Commissionerate of Police has solved the broad daylight robbery of around Rs 10 crore from the Nayasarak branch of the India Infoline Finance Limited’s (IIFL) in Cuttack on November 19 last with the arrest of four persons and recovery of 2 kg of gold from the accused.



Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi said four persons, involved in the loot, were apprehended last night.Lala Amrit Ray, an employee of the company, is the mastermind in the case, he added.

Taking to Twitter Dr Sarangi said all the accused were detained, both the bikes used for committing the crime seized and substantial amounts of gold recovered. Investigation is still on.

Dr Sarangi said, “I feel proud of my officers and hope twin City citizens take pride in having such a competent and professional police force that could solve one of the most sensational robbery case in Odisha history in record time."

Odisha DGP Abhay also highly appreciated the hard work by a large number of police officers led by DCP, Cuttack, and Commissioner of Police. very well done. Proud of this achievement, he said on his twitter page.

On November 19, four armed miscreants had allegedly looted gold ornaments worth around Rs 10 crore and Rs 4.30 lakh in cash at gunpoint from the Nayasarak branch of IIFL.

The finance company on the next day in its complaint to police claimed that Rs 20 crore worth gold was looted.
