ISL 2020-21, Jamshedpur FC vs Chennaiyin FC Highlights: Chennaiyin FC dominated the proceedings against Jamshedpur FC as they beat them 2-1 in the fifth match of the Indian Super League 2020/21 season at the Tilak Maidan in Vasco on Tuesday.
Jamshedpur, which was founded in 2017, had a horrible start as they conceded in the very first minute through a Anirudh Thapa finish from a low cross. Minutes later, Esmael Goncalves doubled the lead from the penalty spot. Nerijus Valskis pulled one back at the end of the first half but it was to no avail for Owen Coyle’s side.
Even after five minutes of added time, Jamshedpur fail to get their equaliser as Chennaiyin completely steamrolled their opposition tonight. The 2-1 scoreline might make it seem like a close affair but it was anything but. Laszlo has his first win as CFC manager.
Chennaiyin misses a golden opportunity to seal the game. Rahim gets at the end of a wonderful pass and lays it off for Chhangte. But, the Mizo tries to be unselfish and he tries to return the ball to Rahim in the centre when he was one-on-one.
Chennaiyin FC finally make the changes and Eli Sabia now wears the captain's armband. Germanpreet Singh and Memo Moura are brought on in place of Crivellaro and Tangri. Later, Esma takes a low shot but it is collected by Jamshedpur goalkeeper Rehenesh.
After Chennaiyin brought Rahim Ali in place of Sylvestr, Tangri goes in the book for a reckless challenge on Monroy. Minutes later, Rahim dribbles away past Jamshedpur players and gives the ball to Chhangte. But, his shot is saved by Rehenesh.
Rafael Crivellaro takes a free-kick and Eli Sabia pokes the ball into the net. But, a foul is awarded by the referee as Deepak Tangri flies an elbow to take down Jamshedpur FC goalkeeper Rehenesh. The pace of the match hasn't slowed down a bit.
Jamshedpur FC make a change in the half-time with Jitendra Singh going off for John Fitzgerald. On the other hand, a floating cross by Jamshedpur's Jackichand finds itself straight into the clutches of Vishal Kaith. A lot to play for in the second half.
There goes the half-time whistle! What an enthralling 45 minutes! Thapa, Goncalves scored for Chennaiyin early on, but then Valskis headed one to cut the deficit in half. Undoubtedly, the most end-to-end match of the new season so far.
Jamshedpur have upped their ante right now as they are hoping to get the equaliser before the end of the first half. They get a free kick and it well taken... Eze attacks the ball but it is headed out by a defender. Crivellaro is booked for a foul later.
What a header! What a reply! Against the run of play, Jamshedpur have halved the lead through Golden Boot winner Valskis. He heads the ball home with an angled header from a cross by Jackichand Singh. First shot, first goal. Game on here!
Substitution for Jamshedpur early on! Coyle is not at all pleased to see Hartley out injured and he is replaced by Narender Gehlot.
GOAL! After Isaac fouled Chhangte inside the box, penalty was awarded to Chennaiyin. Crivellaro's cross had too much whip on it and Isaac panicked in the situation. Goncalves steps up to take it and slots it home down the right side of the goal.
After Goncalves missed a golden chance in a one-on-one situation with the goalkeeper, Jamshedpur have an opportunity. Laldinliana takes a shot but it clatters on the path of Sipovic and ball is comfortably collected by Kaith.
Jamshedpur FC almost get the scoreline levelled through Hartley! Issac floats the ball in and Hartley outjumps everyone but misses the free header. Chennaiyin still maintain their bright start at the opposite end. This is quite the edge of the seat stuff.
What a start! Thapa sets the party on fire in the very first minute with a well-drilled right-footed shot. Crivellaro wins the ball and he releases Goncalves in the right wing. He delivers a low cross and Thapa slots the ball home with his first touch of the game.
Here we go! The ball is sned rolling in Vasco. Chennaiyin FC are wearing their away plain whites with Jamshedpur FC donning their traditional brick reds. Can this match finally have its Indian goalscorer in the new 2020/21 season? Let's find out.
