TRICHY: T S Murali has taken over as the general manager and head of Bhel Trichy complex comprising the high-pressure boiler plant and the seamless steel tube plant at Trichy and the industrial valves plant at Goindwal in Punjab with the full powers of an executive director.
Earlier in August 2020, Murali was posted at Bhel Trichy as general manager (operations) in charge of the high-pressure boiler plant, outsourcing, materials management. He was also given additional charge of new growth areas and research and development (R&D).
Murali graduated in mechanical engineering from the Andhra University College of Engineering had joined Bhel's power sector as an engineer trainee in 1986. While posted as general manager (operations) of Bharat Heavy Plates and Vessels at Visakhapatnam in 2008, he played a significant role in the introduction of modern operations management, capital investment, maintenance and planning to revive the unit after it was taken over by Bhel.
He has served as a senate member of the Indian Institute of Technology-BHU (formerly IT-BHU), Varanasi, from 2018 and is a member of the Indian Institute of Welding.
Murali succeeds R Padmanabhan, executive director, who moves to Bhel corporate office in New Delhi.
