Imphal, November 22 2020: Many organisations have demanded police to arrest and award befitting punishment to Gurumayum Molecule Sharma who is in hiding after shooting his nephew Surajkumar Gurumayum dead yesterday.

2002 Class XII batch of Churachand (CC) Higher Secondary School staged a sit-in protest in front of the school today.

It may be noted that G Molecule shot Surajkumar of Chingamathak Ngakraba Leirak who was a JTO at BSNL with a double barrel licensed gun yesterday at around 10.15 am .

The bullet hit Surajkumar on his right hand and chest and he later succumbed to the gunshot wounds at Raj Medicity.

During the sit-in staged in front of CC Higher Secondary School today, RK Somiya, a member of the 2002 Class XII batch said, "The CC Higher Secondary alumni members condemn the killing of Surajkumar in the strongest term.

We are sharing the grief and pain of the bereaved family members.

The culprit must be arrested and he should be given befitting punishment for his crime" .

It is very unfortunate that police are still unable to trace and arrest G Molecule Sharma till today.

The Government and its law enforcing agencies should take up all appropriate actions to arrest G Molecule, Somiya said.

Somiya further stated that the Government and authorities concerned should take up gun control measures to avoid such unfortunate shootings.

Licence to own gun(s) should be given after strict screening and scrutiny of the individuals concerned.

Criminal history as well as their mental wellbeing should be ascertained before giving the licence, Somiya added.

A similar protest demonstration organised by the JAC was also held at Chingamathak Ngakraba Leirak today demanding justice for Surajkumar and immediate arrest and punishment of G Molecule.

If G Molecule is not arrested within 48 hours, the body of the deceased will not be claimed, said the JAC.
