HYDERABAD: The Congress on Monday termed the GHMC-election manifesto of the ruling TRS as a bundle of lies and demanded that chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao should explain to the people why the promises made by the TRS in 2016-GHMC polls were not implemented so far.
Former minister Mohd Ali Shabbir and TPCC media committee convenor for GHMC polls Aamer Javeed said the list of promises made by CM KCR and those unfulfilled are long. People of Greater Hyderabad should not trust the promises being made by the ruling TRS in its 2020-GHMC poll manifesto, he said.
Citing examples of unfulfilled promises of TRS, they said CM KCR had promised developing Hyderabad like Dallas and Old City like Istanbul. Now he is promising the Musi river to be developed on the lines of Thames river in London.
“The TRS had promised of shifting of Chanchalguda Jail and Hyderabad Race Course from Malakpet, dropped ITIR project, transforming Hyderabad into a software hub like Silicon Valley has remained on paper, a hardware hub like Shanghai, establishment of technology development bank, Hyderabad as wifi cit, shifting of military installations from Secunderabad Cantonment limits to outside the city, cleaning Hussain Sagar lake water, new Vinayak Sagar to be developed near Indira Park, world's tallest building at Sanjeevaiah Park, skyscraper zone at 40 locations around Hussain Sagar lake, elevated corridors, skyways and multi-level grade separators; traffic-signal free city; Bangkok traffic model, slum-free city and another airport in the northern part of Hyderabad,” Shabbir said and appealed to the people not to trust the latest TRS poll manifesto.
The TRS party's promise of setting up three more Telangana Institutes of Medical Sciences (TIMS) on the lines of the TIMS set up in Gachibowli was ridiculous. "The existing TIMS at Gachibowli is more like a lodge than a hospital. It only has beds and skeletal staff. There is not sufficient equipment, medicines or other medical facilities," he said while asking CM KCR to explain whether any surgery could not be performed at TIMS, Gachibowli.
He asked the Chief Minister to give the status of Super Specialty Hospitals which he had promised to construct in all district headquarters. Further, he said that the TRS Government did not release promised Rs. 100 Crore each for upgradation of Osmania and Gandhi Hospitals.
Referring to the promises of waiving off motor vehicle tax for two quarters during the COVID-19 period to the tune of Rs 267 crore for 3,37,611 vehicles, Shabbir Ali said that this was the long pending demand of transport operators.
“The Chief Minister delayed the decision to the extent that it completely crippled the transport industry leading to loss of lakhs of jobs. Hundreds of transport operators have shut down their businesses as they were unable to pay MV Tax for their vehicles during the lockdown period. It is unfortunate that the Chief Minister was presenting his failure to address the grievances of the travel industry as an election promise,” he added.
Shabbir Ali said that KCR's promise of linking Musi river with Godavari River was as true as his plan for cleaning of Hussainsagar wherein he had proposed to drain out the entire lake and fill it with fresh water, a project which never took off.
