The number of followers on the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Twitter has crossed 1 million. RBI has become the first central bank in the world to achieve this milestone. The RBI with very low monetary capacity has beaten the US Federal Reserve and European Central Bank. By doing this, RBI has become the most popular central bank on Twitter.

The number of followers of RBI's Twitter handle was 9.66 lakh on September 27, which has increased to 10,00,513 on Sunday, November 22. The RBI has been associated with Twitter much longer than other central banks but has achieved this fastest available.

The Federal Reserve, the world's most powerful central bank, has 6.67 lakh followers on Twitter. At the same time, the number of followers of the European Central Bank is 5.91 lakhs. The Twitter account of the 85-year-old Reserve Bank started in January 2012.

RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das has a separate Twitter handle, which has 1.35 lakh followers. He tweeted that the number of followers on the Reserve Bank's Twitter account has gone up to 1 million. Congratulations to all my colleagues in the Reserve Bank for this.
