NATIONAL NEWS:
- National Cadet Corps (NCC), the largest uniformed youth organisation in the world, will be celebrating its 72nd Raising Day on 22 Nov 2020 . The raising day function was marked by paying homage, at the National War Memorial, to the fallen heroes, who made the supreme sacrifice of their lives. The Defence Secretary Dr. Ajay Kumar and DG NCC Lt Gen Rajeev Chopra laid wreaths on behalf of the entire NCC fraternity.
- Government of India sanctioned a loan of 3,971 crores of rupees for micro irrigation projects in Tamil Nadu. This is one of the biggest loans being sanctioned for the state of Tamil Nadu. The loan has been sanctioned at subsidised interest rate under micro irrigation fund. The micro irrigation fund was created within the National bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, NABARD.
- India’s first moss garden was developed in Nainital of Uttarakhand. The garden was developed to conserve the various species of moss and other bryophytes.
- Former Congress minister R Roshan Baig was arrested by the CBI on Sunday in connection with the multi-crore I-Monetary Advisory (IMA) ponzi scam. The multi-crore ponzi scheme run by Karnataka-based IMA and its group entities allegedly duped lakhs of people promising higher returns using Islamic ways of investment.
- The 10th edition of the Laadli Media and Advertising Awards for Gender Sensitivity 2020 have been announced . Around 75 people have won the award.
- The Government of India approved 28 Food Processing Projects worth over Rs. 320 crore in 10 states. They were approved under the Scheme for Creation and Expansion of Food Processing and Preservation Capacities (CEFPPC). The projects were approved in the Inter-Ministerial Approval Committee (IMAC) meeting.
- The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Steel has launched Seismic Survey campaign of Oil India Limited in the Mahanadi basin of Odisha . According to the ministry, the oil and gas exploration will be a game changer in the socio-economic development of Odisha. The estimated cost of the seismic survey is Rs 220 crores.
- Delhi police filed a 1000-page supplementary chargesheet on Sunday, charging ex-JNU leaders Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam for criminal conspiracy in delhi riots
- The Central Board of Secondary Education ( CBSE) has released the tentative dates for the class XII practical exam. As per the notification, the practical examinations will be held from January 1 to February 8. Practical examination will have both internal and external examiners.
- Television actress Leena Acharya passed away in the city on Saturday. She succumbed to kidney failure. Leena had appeared in the web series

- Following the adverse weather forecast in J&K on Monday and Tuesday, authorities on Sunday issued avalanche warning for higher reaches in the Kashmir division warning will remain in force in Baramulla, Anantnag, Kulgam, Bandipora and Ganderbal districts.
- Temple kissing scenes stir trouble for Netflix India : An Indian state on Sunday asked police to investigate after a member of the country’s ruling party objected to scenes in the Netflix series A Suitable Boy, in which a Hindu girl kisses a Muslim boy against the backdrop of a Hindu temple.The series is based on an English novel by one of India’s leading writers Vikram Seth and follows a young girl’s quest for a husband. It is directed by celebrated Indian filmmaker Mira Nair.
- Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra on Sunday said the state police have been asked to examine the series ‘A Suitable Boy’ being streamed on Netflix to check if kissing scenes in it were filmed in a temple and if it hurt religious sentiments. An office-bearer of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, the youth wing of the ruling BJP, has claimed the kissing scenes were filmed in a temple in MP’s Maheshwar town and submitted a complaint to the Rewa superintendent of police.
- A Mumbai court on Sunday remanded comedian Bharti Singh and husband Harsh Limbachiya, arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau following seizure of drugs from their house, to judicial custody till December 4

- PM Modi, participated in the 15th G20 Summit convened by Saudi Arabia in virtual format, on 21-22 November, 2020. Theme: “Realising the Opportunities of the 21st Century for All”.
- Leaders from the 21-nation Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) attended the summit. The Putrajaya Vision 2040, a new 20-year growth vision to replace the Bogor Goals was adopted during the summit.
- Indian Navy is scheduled to host the 27th edition of India – Singapore Bilateral Maritime Exercise SIMBEX-20 from 23 to 25 November 2020 in Andaman Sea.
- Canada-based University of Regina is to return a statue of Hindu goddess Annapoorna to India . The statue was stolen from a shrine in Varanasi more than 100 years ago.
- The CAG of India, Girish Chandra Murmu, has been elected External Auditor of Inter Parliamentary Union, Geneva, for a three-year term.
- The Government of India signed Memorandum of Understanding with leading oil and gas marketing companies to establish Compressed Bio-Gas Plants all over India. These plants are to generate biogas from crop wastes. The agreements were signed under the SATAT (Sustainable Alternative Towards Affordable Transportation) initiative.
- The 30th edition of Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT) between the Indian Navy and the Royal Thai Navy was conducted.
- The BSF on Sunday uncovered the tunnel used by the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists, who were planning a 26/11-type attack, to enter India . The four terrorists neutralized by forces in Nagrota had used the 150-metre long tunnel uncovered by BSF which opens up in the Narowar district of Pakistan. Forces have also discovered sandbags with Pakistani markings along the hidden tunnel in the Samba district.

- Last lunar eclipse of 2020 on November 30 : This year, ‘Upachhaya’ lunar eclipse will occur on Kartik Purnima i.e. November 30, which is a Monday. Eclipse start time: November 30 at 1:04 pm.
- A newly elected member of the upper house of Myanmar parliament Amyotha Hluttaw belonging to the ruling National League for Democracy (NLD) from Shan state was shot dead on Saturday evening.
- NASA launched the Copernicus Sentinel-6 Michael Freilich satellite to monitor oceans . The satellite was launched in SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. The satellite launch was a part of the Mission Jason Continuity of Service. The mission was launched to measure the height of the ocean. Measuring the height of the ocean is one of the key components in understanding the climate change.
- The World Television Day was observed on November 21, 2020. On the occasion, the United Nations held the first World Television Forum to discuss the growing significance of television in today’s changing world.
- World Fisheries Day celebrated on Nov 21
to highlight the importance of healthy oceans ecosystems and to ensure sustainable stocks of fisheries in the world. - A New-York based writer Douglas Stuart won Booker Prize, 2020. He was born in Glasgow.
- Russian President Vladimir Putin said he’s ready to work with any US leader, but still isn’t ready to recognize the election victory of Joe Biden
- Palestinian militants fired a rocket into Israel, drawing Israeli air strikes in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli military said. There were no casualties reported on either side of the border.
