HYDERABAD: Showering sops ahead of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) polls, Telangana chief minister and TRS president K Chandrashekhar on Monday announced that his government would provide free water supply up to 20,000 litres from December if it is voted to power.
In addition to that, TRS said it would provide free power to saloons, laundries and Dhobi ghats from December and waive motor vehicle tax for six months between March to September.
"After Delhi, Hyderabad is getting such a scheme. From December, free drinking water up to 20,000 litres per month will be supplied. It will benefit 97 per cent people living in the city," the CM said, releasing his party's manifesto for the GHMC polls .
The civic body elections will be held on December 1 for 150 divisions.
The Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government has already been supplying free water supply to the people who consume up to 20,000 litres a month.
“About 97 per cent of the people in the city will benefit with free water supply from December. Those who consume more than 20,000 litres a month have to pay the bills,” Rao said.
While the state government has already been providing subsidy to hair saloons, it has now promised free power supply to saloons as well as laundries across the state.
The chief minister said the move would benefit the most backward classes.
Coming to the rescue of industrial units and commercial establishments, the TRS chief said it would waive minimum power demand bill for a period of six months from September as the commercial shops and industries suffered due to coronavirus pandemic.
KCR added that the motor vehicle tax would be waived for six months from March to September of this year, saying that over three lakh vehicles will benefit with the decision.
On the request of Tollywood film personalities, producers and exhibitors, the TRS chief said the state government would remove the restrictions on number of shows a day and increase film ticket rates.
“The state government has been collecting about nine per cent (total 18% GST) on film production. Now, films produced within Rs 10 crore budget can reimburse the state GST,” KCR said.
