Prayagraj records 441 road mishap deaths between January 1 and November 15 this year

PRAYAGRAJ: The death of 14 persons including six kids on Prayagraj -Lucknow highway in Pratapgarh district has once again brought focus on rash and negligent driving that continued to claim more lives on the highway and streets of Prayagraj range.
The range is comprised of Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Pratapgarh and Kaushambi districts.
Statistics revealed by the range police on Friday showed that as many as 441 people lost their lives in separate cases of road mishaps in Prayagraj between January 1 and November 15 this year, while the figure for road accident deaths in Pratapgarh, Fatehpur and Kaushambi stood at 225, 293, and 158 respectively.
According to the data, a total of 964 cases of road mishap cases were reported in Prayagraj district, whereas Pratapgarh, Fatehpur and Kaushambi districts recorded 347, 477 and 303 cases of road mishaps, respectively.
Data also claimed that while 612 people were injured in separate cases of accidents in Prayagraj, the number of injured persons in Pratapgarh, Fatehpur and Kaushambi stood 229, 261 and 178 respectively.
Ironically, the graph of road mishaps in terms of fatal and non-fatal category in Prayagraj district has baffled the senior range police authorities who have asked traffic police officials to chalk out an effective plan to minimize the cases of road mishaps. An action plan to continuously monitor road safety measures as well as reviewing the status of accident-prone areas, also known as black spots, has also been prepared.
Data claimed that there were 127 road accident cases reported in January month, while 116, 104, 26,81,96,74,76, 91,117 and 56 cases were recorded in February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October and November respectively, in Prayagraj district.
In Prayagraj district alone, 52 people died in January while 47, 47, 7, 41, 45, 37, 39, 52, 46 and 28 people lost their lives in February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October and November respectively. Similarly, as many as 612 people sustained injuries in separate cases of road mishaps including January (85), February (82), March (64), April (21), May (47), June (65), July (50), August (45), September (46), October ( 76) and November (31) respectively.
A senior cop said, “ Efforts are underway to implement road safety norms strictly for commuters. Senior traffic police authorities have taken up a series of awareness and educational activities among heavy vehicle drivers to promote road safety measures to bring down cases of road mishaps.”
In Pratapgarh, as many as 16, 33, 26, 11, 13, 24, 16, 27, 25, 14 and 20 people lost their lives in January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October and November month respectively.
Similarly in Fatehpur district, 17, 37, 40, nine, 19, 39, 18, 34, 33, 38 and 18 people also lost their lives in January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October and November month respectively.
