MUMBAI: Five youths were arrested for the murder of a 29-year-old man they beat death for allegedly harassing the girlfriend of one accused. All the accused are between 18-21 years and some are students. The incident was captured on CCTV cameras, based on which they were arrested.
The incident occurred in Santacruz (E) on November 19. Local Mayur Joshi allegedly tried to harass a woman walking on the road. He passed a lewd comment at her, after which she called her boyfriend. Around 10.30pm, the prime accused summoned four of his friends, and the five got into an argument with Joshi. It escalated and the group started thrashing Joshi. Sources said he was beaten on the stretch between Victory Bar and Janta Mandal.
Joshi suffered multiple injuries and was hospitalised. He succumed to his injuries on Saturday. The accused were identified and picked up from Datta Mandir Road on Sunday.
